NAKUMOLO SELF HELP GROUP
The misery caused by this unnecessary conflict is immense and the task of reconstruction is gargantuan. We are working hand in hand with a local group, MOLONAKU SELF HELP GROUP in extending assistance to those in need.
When the conflict broke out, it was brutal and intense.Fortunately, charitable organisations such The Red Cross, Oxfam, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) were there in time to help them. The British Government, through the Department of International Development, donated £ 1 million to the Red Cross Society to help deliver humanitarian aid. However this help is not enough to meet the needs of the more than 350,000 who have been displaced. Now we would like to participate too. We have identified victims in a small farming community in Kio Farm, Kuresoi Division in the larger Nakuru District who needs our assistance.
Children have seen cruel scenes of death and even rape of their siblings and even parents. The images of and destruction has scarred them for life. They need our love. They need both material and emotional support. They need to move on after the disbelief, horror, terror, revulsion and upsetting ordeal that they have been subjected to.
We have received donations from British Humanitarian Aid (BHA-Canterbury UK),Holiday Extras’ staff, BCP, Mr Iqbar, the Crosby and Peel Families and other well-wishers. Please contact us by email and we will ask one of our volunteers to come and collect your donation. We are happy to report that Freight costs has been kindly paid for by Holiday Extras Ltd. Together we can help displaced children now living in camps such as this one.
